-We got a dog! (see the plethora of photos below)
-Lots of adventuring including rafting, kayaking, golfing, hiking, etc etc
-We completed a Half-Ironman (and we aren't doing another one!)
-Disney Wine and Dine half marathon with Sass Clan
-WE GOT ENGAGED (the biggest and best thing that happened)
I see that I left you hanging in July so I suppose I'll start from there. The summer kept us exceptionally busy. We trained hard for our half iron man (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run), usually doing two activities a day. Waking up early to go swimming is not exactly my cup of tea, but we pushed through and made it happen. The race was a VERY long day! Jenny and I both decided that the swim portion was the worst thing we have ever experienced- thankfully that was first. We didn't break any records, but WE FINISHED, got the medal, and will probably never do another half ironman again (a full ironman is COMPLETELY out the question).
Moving on, Jenny's brother, Andrew stayed with us for the month of August and we had a great time showing him the area and all the fun activities to be had. He got out on a river a bunch of times: two days rafting the White Salmon river, and also got about 5 days in a kayak! He was a great sport about swimming whitewater, and even got a few combat rolls in while shooting rapids- great work! While we were teaching him about river activities, he gave us some golf lessons and attempted to teach me how to play craps (pretty confusing, but fun!). We have a little golf course near us that is incredibly cheap to play at so we took full advantage. When I say cheap, I mean, "the pro shop is a single wide trailer" cheap. Jenny and I are looking forward to hitting the links this next Spring.
Jenny and I fell in love with the San Juan Islands last year so we decided to head back there and go on a big sea kayaking trip. Over the course of 6 days we circumnavigated Orcas Island- hopping from island to island and camping along the way. The trip was a perfect blend of physical activity, adventure, beautiful scenery, and happy hours (we didn't miss one!). The islands are a magical place and the only thing that made the trip better was the fact we GOT ENGAGED during the trip! I popped the question on Clark Island and she said YES! WOOOO! After successfully completing out kayak voyage we had a few extra days so we stopped by Ross Lake in North Cascades National Park and camped among the towering peaks- see pics below!
After being engaged for about two weeks, naturally our next step was to get a dog. We spent a whole day at the pound playing with just about every dog there (except the chihuahuas). I must admit, when we saw Disco, it was love at first sight. We promptly adopted her and have been loving life with her ever since- and taking way too many pics of her as you will see below.
This is starting to get long- kudos to all that have stuck with the post to here! We have also been busy traveling. To name a few trips, Chad and Shelby's wedding in Chicago, Rees and Danielle's wedding in Illinois, and a little trip to Disney World for Jenny's Mom's birthday. The whole Sass clan flew to Disney World to run the Wine and Dine half marathon. After completing our ironman, I thought that this race would be a cakewalk (or run), but it was NOT. Because the race went through a bunch of parks, it started at 11PM, which is the same time a huge rain storm came in. 13.1 miles of cold rain later we completed the race. Let me tell you, those Sass's are TOUGH- they went out for beers after the race (which was about 3AM), while I was begging for a warm shower and bed. It was a great trip and next time I'll train more so I can keep up with Jenny's parents!
Alright, we are winding down here. In other news, I have been keeping busy in front of the sewing machine as well as some other projects, but at this point I'll let the photos do the rest of the talking. Thanks for reading and enjoy the photos. Cheers.
Flying out of Seattle is great.
This is what learning to golf looks like. Hole 4 was not kind to me.
Sunny Seattle day.
At least the boat stayed upright!
On board shot of Husum Falls
Steelhead Falls on the White Salmon River
Andrew, Jenny, and Tim out on the Wenatchee River
We have great mountain biking just outside our door!
Nice shot, Jenny!

Maps are great- no cell phones on this trip

We played a ton of chess on this trip
The nicest outhouse I've ever experienced.
Lunch break
Suchia Island awesomeness
More chess!
Great sunset
She said yes!
Celebrating with Champagne after she said yes
We pretty much had every campsite to ourselves- simply fantastic
Suchia Island Sunset
Island Happy hour- We love our happy hours.

Ross Lake Photos
With no one else at the campsite, we got to pick the best one!
Perfect weather on Ross Lake
The only thing on Ross Lake is a tiny floating resort, which was there before the US Govt declared the area a National Park. The waiting list to stay in a cabin is like 4 years long. With views like this you can see why.
We played, "throw rocks at the thing" quite a bit during this trip. This is me winning a round. It's amazing where you can find fun when you take away technology.
Ross Lake was exceptionally clear.
It sure was nice to give our arms are break from paddling.
Ross Lake in North Cascades National Park
Just Jenny being a badass.
The dam that creates Ross Lake on the Skagit River
Here's that dog we adopted! This is Disco.
Thanksgiving in Leavenworth
24 degrees and fresh snow? The river was up so paddling we went!
The river got SUPER high due to a warm blast of air after a big snow storm. Couldn't pass up the opportunity to paddle high water.
I went to Austin, Texas for Rees' bachelor party. Naturally, we shot guns. #murica
Shooting guns make ya hungry. Famous BBQ place, Salt Lick, in Austin Texas.
Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon- Ariel and Sebastion
Epcot!
I think Disco did some modeling before we adopted her.
I usually fly right over Leavenworth on my way to Chicago, so this time I snapped a shot. The arrow points directly to where we live. I thought y'all might be interested.
Rachel, Tyler, and Jenny at Golden Gardens on a clear winter day
A hawkeye goosedown blanket that I made. Turned out better than expected.
I also made a new ski jacket for myself
I also made a dog pack for Disco (she hates it)
